Avatar is the best cartoon ever! It deals with complex things, such as redemption and honor, but simplifies it so it is easier to understand. I said simplify, not dumb down like most kid shows do. This show is great for all ages. I'm 14 and I've been watching Avatar since I was 7. All my friends watch and I even got my mother obsessed! Avatar rocks! I can't wait until The Legend of Korra comes out. Those creators are genius.

The American animated TV series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, has been seen by 5.6 million viewers and has garnered high ratings in cartoon categories. The series is placed in an Asian land some thousands of years back. The world was divided into four nations representing the four elements – water, earth, fire and air. In each of the nations there is only one person who is capable of ‘bending’ or manipulating the elements and he is called the Avatar. During the first season of the show, the Fire Nation attacks the people of Air Nomads to dominate the world. They had been doing so since 100 years till a young boy named Aang, who escaped the Fire Lord by getting buried under ice, is discovered by Katara and Sokka, who are siblings. The boy reveals that he is the last Avatar of the Air Nomads and is destined to stop the killings done by Fire nation. The story gets much more interesting when Katara and Sokka join Aang in his quest to master the martial arts of Water bending so that they could defeat the Fire Lord. The 1st season got such an overwhelming response that Nickelodeon which broadcasted the series immediately ordered for two more seasons which were aired till 2008. And now the channel has announced the sequel titled, The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra, which will be released in 2012. They have also made the most expensive movie on the subject with a production cost of $ 150 millions.
