This is a pretty decent outing, although confusing at times. Tony Leung Chiu Wai plays Ip Man credibly. The movie follows the years of Ip Man's life after he reaches 40, and deals w/ an unrequited love for the female heir to the Gong martial arts family, Gong Er. It is a sensitive, well done piece with enough great martial arts action for any fan. It is a true gem a movie, and hits home w/all the power of Wing Chun, as celebrated director Wong Kar Wai intended

Akira Kurosawa wrote this screenplay. It is a touching movie about a highly skilled ronin, who is also a really likable guy. He is so nice it gets in the way of his success. His wife and he help out the travelers at an Inn while all are stranded due to rain. This leads to complications for him when he is offered the position of "master at arms" for the fiefdom.
