Link-Hunting: How it works and what do I need to know?
Welcome to the link hunting guide. This guide will help you understand the basics of link hunting and how you can successfully upload links and videos to MotionEmpire.
First, here are some frequently asked questions:
Q: What is link upload?
A: Link upload is the process of finding links for a certain video and adding it to MotionEmpire.
Q: Why should I upload links?
A: Besides helping the community, you will
earn points which leads to
user level increase and winning
monthly prizes.
Q: What should I know to upload a link?
A: Not much! Just read this guide and you should be good to go :)
Q: Can I upload a video to MotionEmpire directly from my computer or laptop?
A: NO! MotionEmpire only accepts links to other video hosting websites like youtube and megavideo. This website tries to organize the videos, not to host them.
So let's start the process. Here are the steps you need to take in order to successfully upload a video:
- Visit the Upload Page and select the channel that best describes your video. Each channel has its own link uploading format. For example, if you want to upload a tv-show, you first need to select the show.
- Lets assume we want to upload a movie. We go to the movie upload page. We see three sections. The top section is the IMDB data grabber. This application helps you to extract the movie information from IMDB for faster and more accurate uploads. The bottom left section is where the video information should be added. The bottom right section is where the video links should be added.
- In order to increase accuracy and speed, use the data grabber to grab the data of the movie from IMDB. TV-shows will grab their data from TVRage. Data grabbers will allow you to first search the video you want to upload and then insert the link to grab the data available from third party websites. After you found the link to your movie, insert it in the data grabber and extract its data. Sometimes the data grabber cannot grab the full video information. In these cases, use other websites like google.com or tv.com to find the information.
- Once the data is grabbed, check the primary fields like the title, description, genre and picture. Each field has its own separate point. See the Uploading points section of this guide for more information.

- Once you checked for the accuracy of the primary information, you can move on to the next step which is adding the video link to the right section.

- Once you found the link to the video, just add the parts in their right sequence and finish your link upload.
Link Uploading Points
This section will explain the points you will achieve for uploading a link or a video. A video has various information sections. The points you will receive for uploading a video is based on the number of information sections you complete. Each section has its own separate point. The points for each section is listed in
Green right next to the section.

*Point Fluctuation: Some sections have a
Max* attribute or so called "Point Fluctuation". This indicated that the points for this section can be achieved in partial fractions. if a section does not have this attribute, it means that you can either get the full point or none, based on your provided information.
Some notes to remember about finding/adding links:
- Do not upload copyright-material on a video hosting website in order create a link. We strongly believe that MotionEmpire and its users should not help the growth of copyright-material.
- Remember to upload links to all parts of a video. Sometimes when a video is long (like a movie), it has more than one part. Its links can be up to 15 parts. Please upload all parts so the user can properly view the video.
- MotionEmpire does not accept duplicate links. Our system first checks the existing links to see if the link you are about to upload already exists in the system. If not, it will be added. So take a quick look at the current links to make sure you are uploading a new link.
